I love animals, but I don't want to be a vet. Getting into vet school is very difficult, and you have to study for 7 years. I am looking for other career choices. I want something that pays decently, and involves animals. Does anyone have any ideas for me? I will choose a best answer.

You can be a vet's assistant, or work in a kennel. You can go to work for a private breeder, and become a groomer, and a professional handler. There are many animal related jobs that are available, but since you're normally in charge of a live animal that doesn't belong to you, a certain amount of professional training will be necessary in order to get the opportunity to make a career out of it. This does not mean that you have to go through 4 years of college, but instead, a few evening courses and seminars once you have decided on the long term path you want to take.

You could work at a pet store and be a dog trainer. You could work with puppies and older dogs and could teach people about how to care for their animals.

Open a pet store or pet accessory store. I can't believe how much people spend on their dogs, cats, etc...

People laugh at the Parris Hiltons of the world dressing up their dogs, but people are dropping tons of cash on that stupid stuff.
