A 17 year age gap is a pretty big gap. I do believe you will be happy in the begining but as the years go by I am afraid that your feelings will change. My question is, was he involved in a relationship when you met him. Was he cheating on someone? Because if he was cheating when he started seeing you then what makes you think that he will not cheat on you.
I have a feeling that your parents are having trouble with this whole concept.
This is something that I would strongly urge you to reconsider.

Well, I say you are an adult woman and if you love him and he treats you right then go for it. I am 26 and my boyrfriend is 43 and we are about to have a baby boy in the next 3 wks. My parents are 51 and 52. If people that you know and know him realize how happy you 2 are together then the age thing wont be a factor at all. i could care less what other people think about our age difference. i have always liked older men. We love each other and i joke with him all the time about how he'll be an older daddy but he just laughs it off. we have a great time together because we both understand each other so well

Your just looking to be accepted in the "grown up" world!, Your parents still treat you like a child, so you figure if you was to marry someone their age that you'll be excepted by them. Then most likely if they don't except you now, what makes you think that they'll completely accept you after wards? They will reject you and then you will be miserable.

If you truly care about each other, then anything is possible. Remember that you can not expect others to make you happy, but you make your own happiness.
