Crappy food, high calories and fat, low-quality ingredients, horrible employees, poor customer service!
I try to steer away as much as humanly possible!

The problems include: they are not always consistent, they don't pay their staff great, they are not unique, and unlike a family or local restaurant they are not as involved with everything in the business.
However, it is nice to be able to go to one and know the menu will be similar and the basic standards are the same among the chain.

I work in a chain resturant. The poor customer service comes from a lot of things:
The management
The customers
The long hours
If you want good service, you must be nice! Easy as that... if your in a bad mood, your going to get bad service. If your not in a good mood and don't treat your server with respect, your going to get it back!
We get paid bad, yelled at by managment, told how to do our job by customers, stiffed bills... the least you can do coming in to a resturant is not be a psycotic, emotional, hotheaded, angry, know-it-all, ego-maniac.
The staff there are people!
(Sorry, bad day at work)

I have always had good experiences with the few chain restaurants I eat at. Must be your location.

Noone who goes to chain restaurants even likes the taste of fooad as much as they like to gorge themselves and get obese. Restaurants know this, so the food they serve is total crap!

Most of them are not personable at all. They must all serve basically the same menu so there's not a lot of fresh cooked food. What I mean by that is, there food comes frozen and they heat it up. The atmosphere isn't usually anything to brag about.
Seldom, are you treated like they are happy you came.

They're cheap, so they attract only low-class buffoons with no sense of taste, families with hordes of kids, and annoying whiners who want more than they pay for.
They're canned imitiations of each other.
They're usually decorated with cheesy, schlocky, dusty crap.
You can never experiment, and try something different.
But, in their defence, most have passed the course "9 million ways to mutilate a chicken cutlet"

Crappy, cheap food with no imagination, no taste, no flavor with the cheapest and fewest ingredients cooked for the masses and prepared by cooks and not chefs and servers who are paid the minimum who come and go and could care less and a menu that is boring and uninspired..

They mass produce everything in order to maximize their profit margins to the point they lose their identity and their person touch with the customer. They have become more interested in treating volume rather than individual service.

It's the same stuff everywhere you go. monotanous and boring. I prefer going to a new place almost everytime I go out because you usually are pleasantly surprised.
