Because True peace and happiness is a spiritual commodity that can't be found in any amount of material possessions. People have been trying without success since history began to find unqualified happiness in possessions. Every person (including myself) thinks that he's "smarter" than the last guy and will figure out how to do this.
They live with their parents...they're not happy...Dad won't buy them a PlayStation so they run away. They live in a cardboard box under the overpass...they're not happy and they're hungry...so they get a job. They're not happy with the apartment they finally rent...neighbors are too noisy...the place is too small...they want a house. Now the house is too small and there's too much maintenance and bills with the house. They get a killer job with a killer paycheck...but now their private jet is too small and always late...and so on and so on.
There are homeless people who are happier than Bill Gates. Why is this? It's because we "want" things that are really not important and that only mask what our soul...our true self...is seeking.
We even go as far as ASSUMING that all hungry people are unhappy...or all sick people are unhappy...or all people in a concentration camp are unhappy. How is it that we can read THEIR souls but not our own?
Since we'll never admit that we can be "wrong," we blame other folks for our unhappiness...the lack of "breaks"...call it a "hard time"...anything but follow the True path.

If you are still struggling, it's because you are still learning.
Imagine being out on the ocean with nothing more than a rubber raft and one paddle.
That's where a lot of people are in their lives because they still need to learn WHAT to be doing with their time and energy to produce better results, HOW to plan, organize, and get the training they need to move into the lifestyle they want.
Now imagine being out there in a large, well stocked, highly maintained sailboat.
As you learn, you begin to realize what you really need to be doing to do to make your way BETTER, and then BEST.
In my early twenties, I partied. Then, into my thirties I woke up one day in an apartment with hardly any furniture, a job that had very few benefits, and only making enough money to pay for rent, etc and a little left over for having fun.
I realized I would never have anything (a great car, a house of my own, etc.) unless I changed the way I did things. I got smarter on how to find the BETTER jobs with BETTER pay. I started to college in the evenings.
Now, I'm in my forties. I have my degree (which took quite a while since I had to work also) and I make about $62.5/yr. Now my employer wants me to get my Masters so I can go into Management (which will yield me a LOT MORE financially and intrinsically).
Remember, to change your circumstances, YOU must change.

If you try to control what's around you too hard
if you listen others and the media too much
you will let yourself be beat up by things that are not really important to you
you also must really understand about how a good life works and let go of the judgements and actions of selfish and sick people around you

Because they are trying to live right, they meet the challenges and overcome them, learn from them and move on.
The others who have chosen to go with the flow do not stand up against the waves and are heading for the drains.

Maybe because God is testing them? If a person is honest only because it is the best way to make money, then is that person really honest, or just greedy? If a person is honest even if being honest makes him broke, then that person is truly a person of principle.

It's much easier to disregard morals and get the things you want. But, it's much better to take a little longer and earn them the RIGHT way. Keep going how you are.
