it can be a good thing in some ways, as it can bring you closer together and as long as you are both comfortable about the situation and both understand it is clearly sexual realtionship then yes.... but if one happens to develop feelings then it can get awkward if it isn't felt back, so then it can be a bad thing......and it could get awkward after you've seen each other naked for first time!
but hey it depends on the friends etc first on whether it is a good idea

Once you take a realtionship further than just friendship, you are moving up to a new level of trust and feelings with that person. If you mess it up, you can never really return to how you both were before you started having a sexual relationship.

As long as you are both on the same level regarding the relationship you will remain friends - nothing wrong with that

Depends on how you look at it, once it becomes sexual, it stops being a friendship!! you are now intimate, you can't go back to being just friends, the two of you have been ONE

its great to start off as best friends for a long term relationship such as marrige...
but sex isnt good unless you are certain that both of you want a future together..not just as friends only.
i did this..my best friend and crush..all terns out that he wanted was to be friends. it was hard to accept.
but 12 yrs later..iam so glad !!! he turned out to be a user, and not worth anyones time. he married and is now divorced.
we are not friends anymore.
thats all the advice i know to give. except if you may want to marry someone..they do need to be a best friend..or one day you may find yourself bored. , nothing in common etc..sex slows down....you need to build on many other things..trust me. i know. been married 24 yrs..i love him..sex was wild and several times per day..but after all these yrs and one child later and two grands..we dont have alot in common. iam in her typing..he is a sports fanatic!!!. we dont like the same foods alot etc.. find things in common for later..but dont base it on sex!!!!

Hmmm it is good if u are having fun init cause.. then you can discover a lot.. in it :) so be good to ur friend and take some sexual lesson from..him/her and give some advice to her :)

You never know, I lost one friend by doing it but my current relationship of 11 years is testament to the fact it can work!

It's only good if it works out and you end up together. If not then it ends up super awkward and you can't go back to being just friends.
It's the hardest decision to make whether or not it is worth risking it ;)
