Kevin Costner, Nicolas Cage, Harrison ford when they play characters I spend the whole time drooling because they have got this quality like strong and brave but sensitive and in need of love, do any men like this exist in the real world? or am I being blinded by their looks pretending its how kind and sexy and sensitive they are in the roles they play , eg Tin Cup, the body guard, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, Random Hearts, Working Girl, or do they represent the prefect man?

finally a girl who can see what a real man is, sure they may be actors but they portray manliness.

You keep on drooling cos they are out there, though they come in different forms, I for example am a more crazy variation, so get me at the wrong time and you will see nothing of the qualities you seek. Though I can exhibit a bit of Ford some times, I have a scar which also helps haha.

Just keep on looking and you will catch one in the end

I wonder, if you could take the character from the film and make them real, what would an actual relationship be like for a girl?

Some characters, especially the 'bad boys', I don't think a real person could maintain that cynicism full time without coming off as ridiculously insecure. Which means you're looking for something else.

Still, they're not the men you're thinking about, are they?

Just tapped into a thought that came to me a while ago.

I would imagine a lot of these films are written or script edited by women - (ok I may be wrong) but they often represent an image of the perfect man as created by women.

You have to ask yourself when you see wonderful women in films who are strong, sexy and yet vulnerable whether women like this really exist and that will help you answer your question. - ie mens creation of the perfect woman is Lara Croft etc etc

Therefore reflecting on the above do men like those characters exist, my personal opinion is NO ABSOLUTELY NOT

"All autobiographies are lies. I do not mean unconscious, unintentional lies: I mean deliberate lies." George Bernard Shaw.

What is portrayed to you in films, is the imagination of the Directors. They do not show the negative aspects of the characters, which I am sure , (you know,) they also have.

One is just mesmerized by the screen play.

Does it mean than that no men like them exist?

Well, strong characters do exist in the world and they inspire all of us and we rank them as "Great men".

But , in real life, the characters in films would not be able to support the image that is being shown on the screen, all the time. They all come with their mood swings, their weird loo-manners, snoring habits or other aspects.

However, I think that you should believe in your dreams and cherish them. They have positive impact. The word of caution is just that you should not set standards or compare men in your real life with the characters in films, lest you may never realize that you never opened the door to the real man, who kept knocking.

Take Care

If we have no faith, no hope and no love to fuel our lives, then we become like zombies. It is fantastic to hope, to dream, to wish - and the roles that actors play help us create that fantasy world sometimes. There is no such thing as the perfect man because all human beings are distinctly unique. What is important for you is not to look for the perfect man, but for you to be the best that you can and look for a partner whom you can click with, your soulmate. If you are religious, pray for it. God really does answers prayers. He answered mine, and I have the best man I could have ever wanted in my life. He's not perfect BUT he tries, and that's all I ask for.

They're acting.

That's why it's called ACTING.

Do the real men, the real "actors" - Harrison, Nick, Kevin reflect their real lives? Nope! They're MEN.

They are characters. And in film/stage/tv... they exaggerate these qualities to make a "character".

Real men have those qualities too, but in varying degrees.

It's called "acting" because they are not portraying themselves! If you believe it, then I guess they are doing their jobs really, really well. There are real men in the world with many wonderful characteristics - keep a look out!
