Children are different because the world is different. We are more aware as a society what children face growing up, being the best is a greater focus in our culture so we are more focused on our children's acheivements with regard to competition with others be it physical or mental, we are more aware of family issues that go on that used to be covered up in the past such as abuse, children today have more access to knowledge through the internet and television than ever before and if this is not monitored properly by parents it can have unintended effects. The world is different, hence so are the children as is society.

Children of today ought to be different from than those of the recent past. Children of today are exposed to diffeerent electrical and electronics gadgets. These things change their thought processes, change their values. They are more intelligent and advance . They are learning lot of things from an advanced society where the society also changed a lot than those of the recent past . Overall we can not rule out that always there is a wave of change ( some positive and some negative) in our family and socila life. Children of today are the result of this change.

I believe it has to do with technology and discipline. Back in the old days It was harder to get the information that as kids today can get with out asking their parents. For example you can go on the computer and ask what is the best way to handle a bad situation with out having to ask their parents. The discipline back then was in full force (belt, spankings). This put the fear in us. Now a simple go to your room, stand in the corner, ect... doesn't have the same effect on control of the child but not all is bad. I really think this is a better method for children growing up. In this way they learn with out fear. When the child fears it brings up a defense that sometimes leads to hurting other children or persons when threatened. Kids to day are are future as we were before. They will make the right choices as we did.

In recent past, mothers stayed at home and cared for their children. Now many mothers go off to work and let strangers take care of their children.

Strangers often have no permanent relationships with the children they care for. And this lack of stable loving relationships and frequent absence of both parents is probably what makes today's children different from those in recent past.

The technology is so different than when I was a kid 30 years ago. We played outside all the time and used our imaginations because we had to. This maintained a certain innocence I think. We were not forced to grow up so fast as they are today because of the influx of television and computers and gadgets. I know the kids of today are different but they are still great for the most part, just as we were. Nothing stays the same in this world. My parents thought I was so different than they were. You have to gain a perspective and keep in mind the fast forward times. Change is not always bad.

Over the past 10-20 years, the american culture has had a signifigant change. Music styles have evolved from other styles, clothing styles have had a large change and other changes. These influences of american culture are reaching young children at younger ages and these children grow to become of this culture. Some of this culture is positive while a lot of it is very negative.

The parents are to busy with their life, trying to make an honest living, to have time to raise the kids, they leave it up to the TV.
Then you have the parents who have the kids for the money from Welfare, they could care less about the kids.
Then you have the rich pricks who keep trying to buy their affection, instead of showing it to them.
Then you have the government telling you not to punish the the kids, or 1. you go to jail, or 2. you get sued by your own kid.
Me for one believe in the belt, and *** poundings. Soap in the mouth for foul language, a smack on the hand for stealing. My kids aren't perfect, but I love them.

Today's children are being raised as, what I call, "Entitlement Kids". This is because the media has taught them that whatever they want the parents are suppose to get it for them no matter what. Mix that with low discipline rates and you see what we have.

I think they are given so much more to do educationally. The parents spend less time with the kids both working and all. We allow them to play electronics and watch T.V. more, not teaching them that there are chores to be done. We are not allowed to punish our kids like later years(not that I'm really into it),but we are loosing control to the government.

Because in the past, people suffered much to derive solutions to everyday problems, but now, their offsprings take those solutions for granted and thus lack the appreciation for things around them.
