Why do some americans (i mean from US) hate our football?

I mean...i dont hate them...But why they cant stand our football,or why they call it a sport for gays?
I think that they r just jealous,cuz we all round the world dont like their football (some of us)
And oh yeah...why do we have to call it soccer?Can we just ignore them and call it FOOTBALL,cuz it is from FOOT and BALL!!!But where is from SOCCER?

Because they are jealous. You have to realize;
Americans are so proud of baseball. Their national pass time. A sport that has supposedly ATHLETES. Their icon for this sport looks like he ate a couple of FOOTBALL (soccer) players for gods sake = Babe Ruth.
The sad part is that, this national pass time of America, despite naturalized citizens like Alex Rodriguez didnt even bring them joy in the world stage and they lost to Mexico and got eliminated from World Baseball Classis.
Football (American): Americans think that MEN play this sport and our football is not rough enough. In reality in american Football you have 450 lb. so called athletes. The game is 60 minutes long. Lets say that they split playing time with defense ss there is 30 minutes of football for offense. Then there is offensive player substitutions, so a player plays about 20 minutes of football, 16 times a year, in a 3 1/2 hour span. Because it is not for the sport it is for the money and advertising fees, the game is constantly stopped. So the sport they are again most proud of sees athletes that run for 20 minutes in a 3 1/2 hour span. Are these the athletes that have more stamina more strengts than the ones that run for 90 minutes about 60 times a year with only a 15 minute break?
Also they want to win everything and they simply cant in our football. The sad part is recently they are not winning anythins. Losing in baseball, basketball, hockey.Besides despite their xcuse of - FOOTBALL being new to America it is not true. US was succesful in the 30s in the world cup but they are not now. But the countries that never even played baseball in the 70s have already surpassed America. Maybe instead of pointing the finger always at someone else and making up excuses, Americans should crtiticize themselves. They should criticize the heart of their athletes. They should say maybe - everything is about money and not about the sport in our country and thats why we are not succesful in the world stage. And maybe just maybe, they should start calling the sport that is played with your foot - FOOTBALL, not the game that is only started with your foot.
I know I will get cursed out in this forum. By the so called, we hate your football people. But if you hate it so much why ar eyou on this forum?
I am a retired professional tennis player and I still think football is the greatest sport the most passioanate and active sport on the face of the eart. And I am glad to see BILLIONS yes BILLIONS agree with me so I do not care of the opinion of some select millions.

The first issue is:

American football is played with your hand, and they call it football. What does soccer mean anyways?Calling football soccer doesnt make any sense to me, so I call it football.

I dont think football is a sport for gays, whens the last time you saw an openly gay footballer? I think a big reason is the MLS is REALLY boring, and that is mainly what Americans are exposed to. Football is also a kind of new sport to Americans, so I say give it some time and people will warm up to it.

The main reason is you call it football, when its really soccer, and Americans are always right. (sarcasm, but some people are really that arrogant)

i live in ths US and i love football. i should start calling it that but it has a totally different meaning here. here's the answer: america loves to show ppl they r the best. in football they r simply not so they cannot promote it. here everything is about money and popularity and world power. the english made the english system and they dont even use it anymore. it really sucs. it separates us from the world so much. as if the 2 big oceans next to us r not enough.

proof that everything is about being the best: every sport here has a world championship game and they dont even play the world. like football (american). at the end of the super bowl they play we r the champions of the world. how could that be?

i really hope the US changes. i think our sports segregation represents how segregated we r from the rest of the world.

Keep in mind that not all Americans say soccer sucks. Because a large number of Americans don't like or appreciate soccer doesn't necessarily mean there is something wrong with them either. You can't expect everyone in the world to all like a particular thing. I don't like it when my fellow Americans insult soccer and it pisses me off, too. Soccer was my first love and the first sport I got into. The only thing I wanted to do as a kid was to play soccer, though my step dad pushed me into to baseball but that was very short lived and I wanted to also play American football but my mom wouldn't let me because she was afraid I would get hurt. When I wanted to play American football I wanted to play because of the dream of possibly becoming a professional player and being rich and famous. With soccer here in the US, if you become a professional player, you aren't going to be as famous or rich like in other sports and I think that is a big part of the problem here. All Americans don't think alike or share the same views and opinions. There are a lot of Americans who do like soccer so lets not group all Americans together. Also it's not just the Americans who are arrogant. The world is full of arrogant people. Taking shots at American football isn't going to help or solve anything and will make you just as bad as the Americans who insult soccer. Defend soccer, but don't lower yourself to taking shots at American football to get even. I also have to agree with playmaker and I support him and his answer.

i live in america and i think i was the only person watching the World Cup. Everyone's ignorance here is irritating.

i love "soccer" =) ... Baseball sucks, American Football is fun, and Basketball is just going down the tube.

Anyway...sorry for America's ignorance. We're just used to being the best in everything....

because there no good at it and say the sport football hasn't been around long anought its been there even before American football started and they still cant play football (soccer) only once they start winning then they'll start licking football, and don't will be a long time from now. football and rugby where both their back in the days at schools like Harvard , Yale, Princeton and Colombia but it didn't catch on and then they combined both football (soccer) and rugby and came up with American football..

FOOTBALL (SOCCER) HAS BEEN IN THE USA SINCE 1870'S AND 1880'S AT SCHOOLS LIKE HAVARD AND YALE AND IT DIDNT WORK OUT AND THEY COMBINED FOOTBALL (SOCCER) AND RUGBY WHICH ALSO PLAYED AT THEIR SCHOOLS SO AMERICAN FOOTBALL CAME FROM FOOTBALL (SOCCER) AND RUGBY, SO DONT GIVE ME THAT **** THAT IS A NEW GAME IN AMERICA.

We Americans just dislike your football mostly because we're stubborn. If it isn't the game we dubbed football the we don't give a crap about it. I actually enjoy soccer, except a few things. Get ride of the stupid offside calls and stoppage time and then I'm all set. And by the way, what is the point of stoppage time.

they call it soccer cause it evolved from the words Associaton Football or so i heard. and i really dont understand the sport they call football in wich you barely use the foot. they should call football football because the English invented it and thats what they called it wich makes sense. they should call they're football deathball cause thats probably what it leads to.......DEATH!!!!
