You would have to file a petition with the court to be a emancipated minor. You have to prove you are responsible enough to support yourself and reasons why you want to be emancipated.

Depends on your state.

In New Mexico you could. Even at 10 there is little your parents can do to stop you from moving out. It's not a crime to run away from home.

My advice, however, is to stay where you are. Your life will truly suck if you try and make it on your own at 16.

If you are being abused, get help, if its just you don't like living with your parents, suck it up for two years, concentrate on school, get an education, go to college, get a good job and live a happy life. Show them your defiance that way!

Being on your own at 16 is a nightmare you don't want to have.

Well good luck to you! I am in the state of Texas and the law required me to be 17, to make a decision of such on my own behalf. The trick with that is that your parents are still responsible for you being at school everyday until your 18. But the law says at 17 they cant make a child come back home, if they dont want to. You might check with your local police station they could answer that alittle more with specifics.....Have a good day! If family life is not so bad at home, dont try to rush your life away. Once you start that work and living independantly Life is over as you know it to be as a child.......Good LUCk

In many states, you have to be an emancipated minor, which involves going to court and getting an order for the same. It is like divorcing from your parents. In Ontario, a youth can be considered as withdrawing from parental care at 16, if the move was voluntary. As a minor, in most jurisdictions the capacity to contract is there for items like food, accommodations and work, necessary to your well-being.

If I were you I would wait till 18, life is hard out there and you will get in a lot of trouble if not cautious. Sometimes life is difficult at home but security is important when you are so young. Assuming you are having security at home.

This will depend on your state of residence and any applicable emancipation regulations. You can check with your local department of human services.
