both happen all the time due to the pressure in that area, just let it go and the doctors won't be surprised in the least if you can actually tell the difference you can give your doc a warning but most people can't tell the difference.

It happens during labor on the table sometimes. When the mother pushes with contractions other things can happen too. Some hospitals try giving the mother an enema before childbirth to clear the bowels out and some don't. I have had both practices with my births. Never pooped but I am sure it could happen. They just clean it up and keep going.

if it's during the earlier stage of labor, you can ask for a bedpan. If it's down to the final pushes, you really aren't going to care what comes out of you, just as long as it GETS OUT! Also, at the end, you may feel like you have to poop, but it's really just the baby pushing down. Just go with it. :) The nurses and doctors have seen it all...they'll just clean it up quickly and without any commotion.

Believe me after having 3 kids, you won't even notice a thing. And no one ever tells you if you had an accident. Someone is down there cleaning up fast. It only happens during delivery. That's why they always give you an enema when you get there to the hospital.

you don't notice. i had to pee all the time and while i was in small labor i peed cause i could, but the stronger the contractions get, you don't care. my Dr. said that she gets peed and pooped on all the time, but it is not like you can help it. all those muscles get pushed on while baby is coming out. you have no control. no big deal! don't be embarrassed, at that point, you just want baby! :-)

Some women opt for an enema beforehand if they have the chance. Otherwise, don't worry about it. Your muscles actually push all the cr*p out anyway. You can't help it. I know it sounds gross, but that's just life (kinda cemented my conviction not to have kids, lol). You'll be fine.

Believe me it will not come to your attention that you are peeing or pooping. When the nurse wipes it off, you will know that you did it. Try not to eat crazy food around your due date, eat light, it will help.

If you can't leave the table, ask for a bedpan. That's what they're for. With my first child, they gave me an enema first, so it wouldn't be much of an issue.

They bring you a bed pan for the poo. If you have an epidural, you'll have a foley catheter in your bladder for the urine, so you won't have to worry about it. Otherwise, they'll still just bring you a bedpan.
