In sleep, yes. While awake and having sex, He will know it everytime. He will not feel the pre-*** which can come out before the orgasm but he will definately know if he has an orgasm or not because his muscles will go through contractions after an orgasm.

the sleep is divided into 2 types,
NREM = non rapid eye movement sleep
REM = rapid eye movement sleep
a person dreams during the REM sleep, his penis becomes turgid.
during this sleep the person may ejaculate without his knowledge
its normal and physiological
