The word Silly. lol.

Well actually that fielding position is silly. You shouldn't put fielder in that position unless batsman is really, i mean really worse.

The meaning is that the point fielder is placed in a silly position near the batsman. As it is placed in a silly position and if he goes backward, he become a point so that fielder is named as silly point.

Nor mally Silly Means
a modifier to the names of some fielding positions to denote that they are unusually close to the batsman, most often silly mid-off, silly mid-on, silly midwicket and silly point.
