I had this happen with my newborn. I asked my pediatrician about it6 and she explained that in some newborns, their trachea (which is their windpipe) isn't very rigid, but it will become stronger over time. When this happens to my son, it sounds like he's swallowed down the wrong pipe and is gasping for air. I just lift him upright and pat his little back until he's breathing normally again. My pediatrician did ask me if he turns blue when this happens, which he doesn't, but if your baby begins to turn blue, I would make an appointment with your pediatrician right away.

Many babies make noises like those. Sometimes they squeal or making squeaky noises... all of them are different.
I know the 'catching their breath' sound, too. Is it like they breathe in quickly like 3 or 4 times? My babies did that, too. Actually, when my friend was over with her newborn, and he made that noise, it reminded me of when my kids were babies! It was touching!
If you're worried about it, check with your baby's doctor.

Try laying her on her side to sleep or stomach. Back is hard on babies. Also, at next well baby visit, tell doctor. She may have a breathing problem that can be corrected easily if caught early. I drove my doctor nuts asking a million questions, but that is their job. Make them do it. Make a list of questions, and take it with you. Doctor will be happy to answer if a good doctor. If not, consider finding someone who is happy to answer your questions.

She might have a cold but sometimes my baby makes weird noises like that because he can. Some babies do that as part of their voice/speech development.

IT`s A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM
For some reason or other children
give it to MOTHERS
I am not sure if it has a technical or scientific name.
I call it MOTHERS SYNDROME,
Its when women have babies,
From the moment they are born IT STARTS
worry worry worry
Thats what Mothers do
WHY this WHY that WHATS this WHATS that
Now you ask any other mother
IF I AM RIGHT
You will find I am right
It is a MOTHERS NATURAL WORRY FOR HER CHILD

There is a specific term for this

It when the child reaches an age where it understands that it can manipulate its parents by scaring them with gurgling sounds or other sounds that make the parents rush to their aid.

Babies aren't stupid,

Hope this helps

Babies make all kinds of different noises. It is what makes them unique! Just be sure to know what the noises your baby makes means.

I think they just like making sounds, playing, exploring what they can do. But I would ask your midwife or doctor if worried. Slow the feeds down give her chance to swallow?
