Your childhood sounds as if it was very chaotic and perhaps the only way you can bring order to your life now is to obsess about various things that you feel you have some semblance of control over. You also seem to have difficulty trusting others, which served you well in the past because you were around those you could not put your trust in to care for you. I would strongly advise you seek out a mental health professional to help you deal with these issues and get your life moving in the direction that you feel is best for you.

Counselling can help. I think the abuse you suffered as a child heightens your obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Continue to see your doctors and do whatever needs to be done to control the obsessiveness; without on-going treatment it will get significantly worse as you grow older.

You grew up in a concentration camp. The fact that you are alive as an adult and able to ask questions about your problems, all by itself, proves beyond doubt that you are not a coward.

Consider one of the martial arts such as Tai Kwan Do (one which has a lot of meditation included in the physical training) and you'll obtain the skills to conquer fear and, importantly, skills to seek peace.

Lastly, do not hide or lock up the love that is in your heart, even if you are hurt by your personal relationships. Love is nature's cure for the nightmare you went through while growing up.

This happened to me when I was young. Lack of self confidence . Then a friend of mine got me in to Karate class and it help build my self confidence and gives you a sense of control of your life. I was not afraid to tackle any personal or professional problems that came my way. It helps you become a better person and gives you confidence you need and can take with you the rest of your life. And you also learn how to defend yourself if the situation arises. Try this and you`ll see a change about 2 to 3 months into it. Even if you don`t stay with it you`ll become a better person with more confidence and a better out look on the future. You have to pick a school that teaches more than just becoming a black belt. Find one that exercises your mind ,body and spirit. Good Luck!!

I was beaten regularly too when I was a kid. I overcame it by becoming a very assertive person (sometimes to the point of being all-out aggressive); I absolutely refuse to tolerate any bulls***t whatsoever from anybody... ever! Get to a community health center and get a damned good therapist; you can overcome all of it. If you're serious, e-mail me at yahoo and I can help you find resources. This isn't a pick-up line... I can help you find help. Good luck. Contact me if you want to.

I think your OCD is related..I would talk to a counselor about it...there are also self help books and chat rooms. I would keep a journal and write down any thoughts you might have. etc.

don't hold your past in..talk about it...ask your mom why she treated u like that...break the cycle....

take things slow when you are scared..talk it out...what kind of bodily harm....?

talk to a trusted adult....! but the most important thing is to talk...!

I am 15 years old. I am an abused child. The thing you really need to think about is this. "Why should I let this about tear me apart?" You should do the best you can to make yourself as happy as possible and get some professional counceling. In the end, it is worth it. Good luck. :)

Cleanse your spirit. Forgive your folks. Create your world new from nothing. OCD is probably in your family history, consult a doctor about possible treatments-natural and manufactured. Be the change. Peace.

Yes they are probably related. You should probably seek professional counseling. Obsessive compulsive disorder can be managed with therapy.

Yes, get counseling. There is little you can just start "doing" that will make up for years of abuse and repressed feelings.
