What is the basic problem between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Why can't it be resolved peacefully?

I became aware of the problem between the Palestinians and the Israelis ever since I was able to read newspapers more than 35 years ago. Does is it mean that no side has stated what worries them or does mean that neither side is willing to compromise a little? And with all our resources, including our intelligent politicians, the world seems unable or unwilling to help...

The only clear reason why Israel is in that miss is the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian land . if Israel implement the UN 242 resolution in full there will be an end to the on going wars in the Middle East. Israel up to this day will not tell the world and the Palestinian that it will withdraws from all the land mentioned in UN Resolution. Israel want to keep land that was never part of Israel and this is why Israel will never have a lasting peace with native Palestinian people . PALESTINIAN" CHRISTIAN AND MUSLIMS" no more lies. There are 13 Palestinian Christian denominations the largest ones are Catholic and the Greek Orthodox.

In order to understand the Middle East conflict, one must understand history beginning with the fall of the Ottoman Empire. It basically boils down to European Imperialism and reneging on promises to both Jews and Arabs. Now we have the Jews and Arabs fighting each other. Perhaps that has been the plan from the beginning.
