The victim is Zidane.
Here's the story:
Zidane was provocated n that's why he headbutted
by doing so, he got red-carded, n sent off the match
b'coz he was sent off, then he didn't allow to do the penalty shot
b'coz he didn't do the penalty shot, then France was lost n end up as a runner up of WC.

Well, Materazzi do hurt by the headbutt, but at least Italy won, and it was b'coz Zidane was being sent off.

So, the victim is someone who got more disadvantage, that is Zidane.

i think zidane is a better player than materazzi in terms of football skills....but i prefer materazzi better because i think zidane acted innaporpriately. everyone talks trash on the field and it takes a big man to control himself....zidane proved that he was unable to do so.

there is no victim between zidane and materazzi...the only victims are the other players of both teams who have had this incident overshadow their performances at the World Cup...that is the real shame here...

The players on the pitch have a relationship to each other that is immune to outside influence, fans FIFA or otherwise. Both of these men behave most likely like gentlemen in their private lives. We will never be certain about what was said and they will keep it to themselves as players? That's my guess.

Pele endured years of heavy attention from inferior players because he was strong enough to. To the best of my knowledge he never lost his head to the degree both these players have on the pitch during their careers. So Pele sets the standard that still seems to elude international soccer.

It would have been a nice gesture if both players could have been brought back to the pitch and reconciled publically at the end of the game?
