Call Social Services. Sometimes "the worst" has to happen for people to get with it and pull their lives back together.

This is a dangerous situation and the mom is in very real danger. Most homicides in domestic violence when the victim is trying to leave the situation. It's not really a good option to just stay and continue to be abused. Ultimately, it sounds like she needs to leave, and needs to have a plan. She needs to plan somewhere to go that he won't know, and what to do to get there without him finding out. A good resource can be her family physician, since this is an issue of physical safety and well being. I would call the American Medical Board in your state to see if there is mandated reporting there for family physicians. What ever she decides to do, she needs to be very careful. Good Luck.

She needs to contact Victim's Services in her area. They will remove her and the children from the home and supply them with everything they need, shelter, food, protection and counseling. They will help her with anything she needs, including a lawyer if she needs help with the tickets, etc.

But she needs to want the help. Otherwise, the children can get the help themselves. They have to call ACS for that. They can call the police the next time violence is happening, I would suggest they run from the house to a neighbor's house or something and call from there. I wish them lots of luck and my prayers are with them.

help is out there, they just have to reach out.

There are special hidden homes for women and children who have abusive spouces. The woman should contact the police first regardless of tickets. They will help her find the home.

It is important for this family to find safety and the quickest way is for the mother to call the police. If she will now, YOU can alert teachers or police yourself. You could save your friend's life. Act now!

I think that she should go to the shelter for abused women. I am positive that such shelter exist close by.
There is not justification to be in abusive situation. And it will be worst with the time.
