40 was traditionally "over the hill" because it was about half-way to the end. However, when I was 17, 40 seemed old. Now that I'm over that hill, 60 seems over the hill. Really ... it's amazing how perception of age changes as you go through your 20s, 30s, 40s, etc.

While I have good friends and family that are approaching or even over this hill, I believe that the age is around 40-45.

I believe that the concept is the same for Wednesday being the hump day.

It's supposed to represent the fact that you are no longer in the first half of your life, but now starting the second half.

Love as always,

Sebastian

It depends entirely upon which hill you have in mind. If it is theoretical physics or mathmatics, the early twenties usually are the period of greatest accomplishment. By the late twenties, most of these guys are already past their prime.

If it is boxing or most competitive sports, few can last past the early thirties and still be at the top of their game.

But if it is history, philosophy, theology, or professorial scholarship that you are thinking of, a person may improve until their brain becomes disabled, which is usually past 70 or 80.

Sexually, men and women seem to differ. Men's sexual powers begin diminishing during their mid-twenties, on average, while women seem to be just coming into their peak performance during their mid-thirties.

So, you see, the hill matters in determining who's "over it".

What exactly is "Over the hill" anyway? Is it the downward slant of numbers on a graph? What would be "The TOP of the hill"? and at what age do you start that forward motion that gets you going "Down the Hill"? What if i myself choose to "Go around the hill"? is that cheating? What the hill??!!!

You will feel over the hill when you reach 30, 40, & 50. After that you don't feel so bad. The worst is 30.
