First, you have to stop blaming everybody else for your addiction to cigarettes. Take responsibility for your actions. Second, ask yourself this question: "Do I want to have control over my emotions and all my actions?" If the answer is "yes", take control, commit yourself to make the great effort to quit smoking, look for help, join a program or group. You're young, but that doesn't mean you can't be smart and strong. Take care.

I know exactly what you are talking about, because I have been hooked on cigarettes since the age of 13, and now I am 59 without ever having succeeded in giving it up. I don't know about you, but I actually enjoy smoking and this might be one major reason why I can't give it up. I have tried everything, but the longest period I ever managed to exist without a cigarette was 23 days. So now I have given up and resigned myself to the fact that I will be a smoker for the rest of my life. By the way, I heard somewhere that a heroin addiction is easier to overcome than a nicotine addiction. I have no way of knowing whether that is correct, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true.

I have the same problem.
I quit cold turkey on Tuesday. It's tough. I've smoked for 10 years.
I'm really trying, it takes will power.
I sneaked one ciggy this morning, and had one on Thursday.
I'm doing really well. They say if you can make it past 2 weeks, you've kicked the habit.
I also heard that you should drink a lot of orange juice because of the vitamins in it does something to fortify your blood.
Hang in there! It will be worth it in the end.

The craving for a smoke only lasts for 3 minutes. This is a proven fact. What you need to do is find something to do for those three excruciating minutes. I have seen people quit by cutting a straw about the size of a cig and hold it in thier fingers like a cig and even take draws off of it. Most of the habit is the fixation of having that in your hands. My father quit by getting a new video game for his computer and everytime he wanted a smoke he'd go play for a few minutes. It worked for him, you just have to find your own substitute to fill in the time where you would be smoking. Keep those fingers busy.

Stopping smoking is one of the hardest things to do. It's not just getting over the bodies craving for the nicotine, it is also part of our daily routine (after we eat, while we drive). It is also a comfort when we are stressed, mad, etc.
You could try those nicotine patches, but bottom line.. you won't have any success until mentally you decide this is it.. I'm done.

First of all Congrats!!!!! You are coughing like that because your body is trying to expel some of the crap that you have been putting into all these years. You are having trouble sleeping because you are not getting that stimulant anymore that your body has grown accustom to. Your throat is hurting because it is trying to heal. The coughing will go away but its going to take time. Stick with it. In three months you will be amazed at how great you feel.

First and foremost you have to love yourself to stop the habit. cos if you love yourself you wont spoil you health. and most important you should have a strong will to kick that habit as old habits die hard. its easy to pick up bad habits than good ones. try with your heart and you will definitely succeed.
