My dad's a mechanic. Do this.... go around to the local garages, not dealership garages, the old mom and pops mechanic garages. Ask to speak to a mechanic. Ask them about whatever car you want to know about. If there's a problem with them that is common, they'll know about it. If you asked a dealership they wouldnt let you talk to the mechanic and they'd tell you their cars are the best of the best. An older mechanic ALWAYS knows best. The mitsubishi motors are great. the transmissions not so great, but with proper maintanence they should last quite some time. try to buy 2001 and newer because that's the best transmission years for that platform. You can also weld the pin in the transmission to fix the common problem in the galant platform (which is transmission busting through the casing at high rpms. )
