I think the second verse holds the clues to what this song is about:
"Maybe a great magnet pulls
All souls to what's true
Or maybe it is life itself
That feeds wisdom to its youth"
I think it's less about anything romantic or sexual, which I think most people assume because of her sexuality and the word "craving" suggests needing some physical desire fulfilled, but more about craving, as the song says truth and wisdom, deep, spiritual truths. In fact, in one google search looking for the meaning of these lyrics posted this: "n an interview with the Buddhist publication The Shambala Sun, lang (a devoted Buddhist) says "Constant Craving is all about samsara." Samsara, as defined within Buddhism, is the continual cycle of birth and death while one moves within the six realms of existence. Although, as other songs have shown (Madonna's "Like a Prayer" and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" - the latter of which kd lang has done an amazing rendition of), sexual ecstasy and spiritual or religious ecstasy are very similar and not at all mutually exclusive.

I was watching kd lang one day in an interview, and she said that it's about watching an MTV series at the time, and craving for the women that she was watching. She is a lesbian, and has an exceptional voice. That is one of my most favorite songs.
