It depends on what the table is made of. Glass tables are cleaned with either plain water and some form of cloth or glass cleaner and a paper towel. Wood tables are usually cleaned with wood cleaner and the few people I know that use a plastic table for eating just clean it with soap and water... and a towel. It's all a matter of personal preference. If it gets the table clean, it's not the wrong way.

If its a wood table top, cleaning after a meal can be use of a wet sponge. Then once a week using a furniture polish like Pledge to condition the wood to keep the finish looking good.
If the table is some sort of formica top you can do the same after a meal with a wet sponge and then clean it with an all purpose cleaner weekly.
If it is a glass table top, I would recommend an all purpose cleaner after meals or glass cleaner. A wet sponge will make the glass look cloudy. Use paper towels or old newspaper on glass for a sparkle.

I wash the table off with a dish rag, and then take a paper towel and Pledge All Purpose spray to it

I use a dish towel and use hot soapy water, then rub, then whip with a clean towel, lots or luck and remember we wash our dishes in the dishwasher and don't sit on the floor. Remember to have your desert in the desert after you desert the army...Have a Great Day!!!

I'm a guy. We use paper plates, plastic knives, forks, spoons. Then we brush the crumbs onto the floor, the dog cleans it up.
