you're not forced to work 60 hours, are you? you do it voluntarily, right? no one could force you to work that much (unless you're to do a specific job and that's just how long it takes YOU to do it.)

Working 60 Hours A Week

It depends, if you are a brittish citizen you can work as much as you like, but the business will ask you to sign a form of conract to prove you agree to the insane amount of hours. If they are forcing you to work that many you should contact some one for advice or look into finding a job with better hours. If you are not an EU national, whether you choose to work them or whether you are being forced to work them is illegal, as most visa's allow only 40 working hours a week and this is reflected on your income tax forms.

It is illegal to make you work over 48 hours a week unless you signed out of the working hours regulations.

yes. in the uk there is the working time directive. ask at the jobcentre or citizens advice bureau for further details.
A company cannot make you work more than about 45-48 hours a week...however if YOU CHOOSE to, then you can!

Only if:

You are a driver for a living.

You are caring for the welfare of others, and lack of sleep would cause accidents.

You can work any hours you like as long as you don't put others at risk... however, if you do, your employer is also liable!

Self employed people seldom stop working... and, housewives/mothers, never do!

It depends what occupation you are doing, i thought it should average less than 48 hrs over a 13 week period.

The laws are difficult to understand, mail the TUC website and ask them, they will mail you back with the right answer.
