That's a vague question, what aspect of history are you interested in?

Indian literature has not had much influence on western literature/history.

Simple part of understanding our future is understanding our past. People who write Science Fiction take history and manipulate it a tad to predict the future. Such as gas prices we may no longer have autonobiles as we know it.
