You are right, it is pretty bad here. Considering all the things you listed and the fact that every 3 seconds someone dies of hunger it would seem this world is not what it should be. There is a lot of beauty in the world; it's just so hard to see past the bad stuff most of the time. The definition of hell is actually the grave if you are referring to the bible.

There is no fiery burning hell; that's a manmade idea, not Almighty God's. The Bible is very clear in stating that the soul is subject to death, saying: “The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.” (Ezekiel 18:4, 20) Also, The Catholic Douay Bible, at Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10, says: “The living know that they shall die, but the dead know nothing more. Neither have they a reward any more: for the memory of them is forgotten. Whatsoever thy hand is able to do, do it earnestly: for neither work, nor reason, nor wisdom, nor knowledge, shall be in hell [Sheol, AS], whither thou art hastening.” So, since the “dead know nothing more,” or as the King James Version says, “the dead know not any thing,” it would be impossible for them to know conscious torment. And since there is no work in hell, how can there be activity, red-hot or otherwise?

God has stated the penalty for disobedience: “The wages sin pays is death” (Ro 6:23). What is “death”? Death is the opposite of life. God had held before man the prospect of endless life on earth if he obeyed. However, he disobeyed, and the penalty was death, unconsciousness, nonexistence. (Psalm 146:4) God had said nothing about transferring man’s life to a spirit realm or to a fiery “hell” if he disobeyed or died. He had warned man: “You will positively die.” (Genesis 2:16, 17) What all men have inherited from Adam is dustlike death.—Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10; Psalm 115:17.

But those who go into that nonexistent state should not flatter themselves with the thought that they are experiencing a salvation from life or existence. They are undergoing a punishment and are missing the eternal happiness of perfect life in God’s new world. “ … but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom. 6:23, NW)

There is a hell, but it's not the firey, cloven-hooved place you see in books. Hell is the complete absence of anything good and a complete lack of God. Here on earth, we do have glimpses of hell in the murder, war, rape and crimes you speak of, but there is still goodness and peace to be found. Hell is worse beyond the worst you can imagine, and it's for eternity. Nothing here on earth can compare.

All the things you mention are done by humans to other humans. Hell is a place prepared by God for the punishment of these deeds and for non-believers. You ask if there is anything worse that this hell on earth? Definitely! How do you think it will feel to burn forever without letup or relief? Where not even one drop of water will fall on your burning tongue.

I agree, heaven and hell are right here on earth. We make it ourselves.

But it still makes a good powertool to make people believe in the religion you preach. Make them believe there is something even far worse that the hell we can have here, and they might follow you to where ever you want to lead them.

I agree. Earth is truly all the hell anyone needs. The older I get and the more injustices I see, I truly believe this.

I don't believe in a biblical hell anymore.

Hell is a pain that FAR outweighs any pain here on earth. I also believe that despite the misery in this world, it is a very beautiful place.
