I have read an article that they want to put the National Anthem into Spanish. I am siding with Bush on this one and saying NO. It should be sung the way it was written in 1812. Why should this nation cater to the Spanish? We are all descendants from immigrants from all different countries who came here and learned English. Why cant the Spanish?

I agree with you completely! This is America....Although we are considered to be a melting pot of all differnt cultures and heritages we should stick to our english heritage as a country. I personally think that they should learn our National Anthem as one of the first bits of english they learn...Im tired of them not even trying to learn our language and expecting us to cater to them....seriously..this is America....Please learn the language.

that is the most ridiculous idea ever! i agree completely and whole heartedly with the person asking the question. Why on earth should we cater to the Spanish?! I have nothing against them, but if they want to live in America they should at least try to learn the language. The Spanish are not the only people who live here that came from a different language background. Why should we have to cater to them? What makes them so much more important than any other citizen? You don't hear about Americans moving to a Spanish speaking country and demanding that their national anthem and other documents be translated into english just because they are living there now. This is just so absurd, and it should never be changed from the original!

People now days have lost sight of the important things.People just want to have somthing to wine about. Now,dont get me wrong there are important current issues out there that need attention, such as immigration laws and such.Who really gives a damn(aside the ignorant, racist people) that sombody wants to hear the National Anthem in spanish,or chinese or german or french. Its all going to say the same exact thing.I dont believe that anybody should be made to sing it in any other language but english,i do to believe that if your in this country you should learn the english language, but if sombody wants to sing it in a other language ,go for it.This is the country of many languages, races, colors, nationalities and always will be.

I think that the US should accommodate all of its citizens. Some people aren't able to speak English very well yet and I believe that putting things into there language would be the right thing to do. I'm not saying that we should all have to learn Spanish and sing the anthem in Spanish...it should primarily still be in English.

It's not just a translation of the National Anthem that has been talked about. The "rewritten" includes changing the whole sense of the song.

But I sure wish it was easier to sing and not sung to the tune of an English (as in GB) drinking song.

This is probably the only thing I'll ever agree with Bush on. If the Mexicans want to live here, then by God, let them learn English!!! None of this Star Spangled Banner in Spanish crap!! Wonder how they'd like it if we went to Mexico and insisted their national anthem - if they even have one - be translated into English for us? Round 'em all up and send 'em back across the border where they belong - we don't want them here anyway!

No, people should expect the National Anthem for the United States in English. If we were in Spain, then I would expect the anthem to be in Spanish. Germany, expect the anthem in German. Etc.

The illegals really Screwed themselves over when they marched into the streets. It backfired and had little effect on the economy. The national anthem in spanish also created troubles for them. Illegals aren't the smartest people
