Each state is different, but you need to file with your county. The child support division will be listed in your blue Government Pages of your phone book. You can do this without a lawyer, thank goodness.

Go to your county's child support and family services office. Call before you go so you'll know what items you need to bring with you and so that you can make sure you get an appointment.

Call your local Welfare office, they will give you the number for your local Child Enforcement Office. They will advise you from there.
