The Bible uses numbers metaphorically, I do not know all the meanings but I know the meanings of some such as 2, 5, 13, and 666.
2 corresponds to "work" as in the work of salvation brining the gospel, we see this in the NT, and it come from an Israeli use which comes from an Egyptian use (relatively unknown but in the Bible).
5 corresponds to "care", and also to "judgement", this is certain.
Other numbers are highly significant and are repeated many times in the Bible such as the number 12, 12 tribes, 12 apostles, 12 gates of the new kingdom, ect... 144,000 ect... (made from 12 x 12 x 1000). 1000 is significant, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10 are also significant but I have not proven their meanings. These are derived from the philosophy of classification and are probably of Egyptian origin. 7 may have to do with perfection. 6 is of the word SS which is related to SUS and SYS "rejoyce" and is actually related to the words six and sex, but here again I do not know its meaning.
13 means the "unexpected", we know this from more than one Biblical context, the most prominant being the daughter born to Jacob who expected a son and she headed the 13th tribe which was later absorbed into one of the other tribes, also Judas Iscariot: the betrayer, the unexpect, so a 13th apostle had to be selected to replace him. (something in chronology relates to this also proving "unexpected" but time does not permit me to detail it here).
I hesitate to explain 666 because some things need to be kept secret and also because it is difficult to believe. It is a highly significant number. The scholar Harold Camping correctly understood it comes from 2/3 of 1000 (two thirds of one thousand, which is about 666.6667) and I think reference to this is also found in Isaiah.
Why does it refer to antichrist? It has something to do with who Christ is, that is why it is so difficult because it will confuse people and they will not believe, though I hope I am wrong about none believing. You also must understand something about Ancient Hebrew linguistic morphology, because this number is derived from a Hebrew word.
Remember man was created on day 6, there are 66 books in the Bible, and these are all highly significant numbers, and there is more to the number 6 than I understand. But you will have to ask me on the yahoo group peripheral egyptology, I host that group. I will answer the question there. My conscious troubles me to reveal this secret on this more public site.

It is supposed to be the number of the beast representing the devil. It is actually a way for the early Christians to code what they were saying as not be be left open to attack by the Romans. They would convert the name of whomever they felt oppressed by into numbers. In the case of 666 it is a mis-translation from the early christian texts which saw the Emperor Nero as the great oppressor, but the actual number should be 616.

It's just the Mark of the Beast, the Anti-Christ.
Why 666? Who knows.

Six is the number of man. Six-six-six represents man coming to full circle in his corruption and ungodliness. This will become manifest in the person of the Antichrist, who along with the False Prophet, will attempt to install Satan as the rightful ruler of the earth. The number of Christ is 7. Seven-seven-seven represents the fulfillment of Christ's mission on earth. He will come to defeat the devil during the second half of the tribulation and throw Satan into the bottomless pit for a thousand years. Jesus loves you.

Six Lines
Six Points
Six Intersections.
Figure it out.
The biblical explanation lies in the idea that the number seven represents something good or perfect, so the number six is something that is imperfect. (Man is imperfect). So 777 would be 'most perfect' and 666 would be 'most imperfect'.

actually, based on the writings of "classical magic(k)", i recall it is a number/frequency relating to the sun, and relates to the male principle. on the other hand 1080 refers to the moon and the female principle. if you would like to read an intelligent, thoughtful approach to 666 and its "relation" to "the beast" check out: *the dimensions of paradise* by john michell. quite brilliant as well as mind expanding.

it is the number of Satan's name. in other words the name of the anti-Christ will probably have 18 letters. not saying that anyone with that amount is him . because my full name has 18 letters. and that is just a guess really.
