I think it's because they are different. If we had aliens on this planet with different number of heads people would hate them for that. "I can't be your friend b/c my mommy says that people with one head are dumb.."

It probably stems from early human sociobiology. In the hunter gatherer society, it is essential to one's fitness to recognize both inside and outside competitors. As such in this egalitarian society, recognition of visual cues from physical attributes and behaviors would be needed to suggest if a foreign individual would be a transgressor, a direct threat to and individual's survival. Therefore, classifying individuals based on race is still present in the world today, because it is in our evolutionary history. However, and more to the point, as we are able to make distinctions between races/cultures, negative connotations may be associated along, whether it be conscious or not. While just about anyone can will make the same distinctions (i.e. this man is black, that man is white, asian, ect.), the connotations (positive or negative) associated with these races/cultures are dependent on present society.

The human being is against nature. Variety is a mandate in nature, but we don't tolerate differences. Skin color, language, accents, beliefs, likes, dislikes, they all must take on similar outlooks or else.

Because what be people don't know scares them, and instead of educating themselves about the people they bash it's just easier for them to hate.
Kinda feel a little sorry of the haters they miss out on so much.

People are afraid of things they're not familiar with. Sometimes, that fear is expressed as bias and bigotry. Many people learn to hate the things they fear.
