JayneDoe is wrong.

The OPK can remain positive after ovulation. In fact, OPK's were tested to see if they were a valid predictor of pregnancy. It was found that they predicted pregnancy in 60% of cases - not enough to warrant using them for that purpose, especially since there was a high number both of false positives AND false negatives...

opk and hpt are looking for different chemicals!

opk is looking for an LH surge in urine... a chemical that identifies that ovulation will occur within the next 48 hours. you usually only get one positive opk testing in a cycle because you only ovulate once, and there is only one point in which the surge does just that... surges. you should do your opk testing about 1pm in the afternoon every day starting on cycle day 11 until you get a positive. there is no need to continue to test after you get a positive result. it is also recommended that a person test twice per day with opk. the second testing time each day should be 8-9 hours after the first test. this allows you the largest chance of catching the surge as soon as possible. by the time the surge is noticed with an opk test, the hormone that starts the ovulation process has been in your cycle for a minimum of 6 hours.

hpt measures the HCG in your urine... a chemical that identifies that pregnancy has occured.

next month, follow the instructions above for the opk and have sexual relations as soon as you get a positive opk. continue every day with relations until you are clearly past ovulation (you will notice a really low temp on your charting, then your temperature will spike up and stay high. after 3 days of high temps (after the lowest one... around cycle day 14) you can stop the conception process and wait to see if you are pregnant.
