The desoxyribose structure

This is the basic unit of the DNA. The X phosphorus atom is linked to a Y oxygen atom.

The B part is the nucleotide base.

DNA is contained in each living cell. For human, animals and plants, it is contained in the nucleus (for protection).
The DNA contains information for the production of the proteins. When needed, the two strands split and a copy is created, called Messenger RNA. This messenger can exit the nucleus and bond to a protein called ribosome. This protein reads the ARN and creates the protein which corresponds to the code. Then, this protein will do is specific job.

DNA is the keeper of the genetic code. The nucleotide bases are the "letters" that spell out the blueprints for making proteins.

Each cell has all the information that the whole body needs, but it only uses what it requires to function. How cool is that?
