Just out of curiousity, is it true you can still have a period when you're pregnant? And if it is true, does that mean you can still get pregnant while you're pregnant. I know it sounds like a ridiculous question, but I'm just wondering.

Yes, you can have a period very early in your pregnancy. It is a response to fertilization very late in your cycle. Often implantation doesn't occur until you have already started a period. This is extremely rare, but it is possible. It is also possible to bleed later in pregnancy, but this is not a period. This is a medical condition that needs to be remedied at a hospital or with your doctor as soon as possible.

Now, this sounds odd, but it is possible to get pregnant when you're pregnant. There is a window of opportunity that only lasts a couple of days where you already have just gotten pregnant, but your body doesn't realize it yet, and therefore lets another pregnancy begin. There have only ever been a handful of scientifically proven cases of this occuring. After the first couple of days after conception of your first, no, you cannot get pregnant again.

Keep in mind that having a period does not equate to getting pregnant. You can have very regular periods and not get pregnant even if you are trying. For a female to get pregnant, ovulation is the necessary function, which usually happens a couple of weeks before a period begins.

Wow, I bet all these people are millionaires. I mean, they are all wonderful doctors aren't they? I've seen about 20 simple questions so far and they ALL came to answer a question they don't know. First off, half of these people have never been pregnant or never will be since they are men(including me).
Second, they would rather sound like they know what they are talking about than just shut up and listen. The reason this is important becasue if you one day get pregnant(if you're a female) and you start to bleed you'll probably say hey it's ok the morons on yahoo said it was ok. Take this a little more seriously.

That's something you need proffessional help with. Some of these people are right but some have no idea what they are talking about. There have been cases where there is blood after you get pregnant. Kind of like spotting. Check out planned parenthood. It's one of the best sites for these kinds of things. You can chat with someone about it.

Why do you want to know this anyway?

You can't get pregnant while your pregnant and the bleeding you're experiencing is probably just a sensitive cervix. Your doctor may tell you to avoid sex for your pregnancy. If the bleeding is heavy like a full period, there might be a serious problem and you should seek medical attention right away. You didn't mention how far along you are. If you're in the first trimester, misscarriage is a real threat. If not, it's probably nothing to worry about unless the bleeding is bad

The only stupid question is one that doesn't get asked.

Yes you can get a period while pregnant. Some women will continue to have a period for the first trimester or so. In rarer cases, the periods will continue for longer. However, during this time you will not get pregnant a second time. The uterus has already prepared itself for the first fetus and placenta and a second egg will not become attached to the uteral lining.

However, whenever there is bleeding involved after pregnancy you should always see your doctor. There can be many other reasons for bleeding and your doctor will be able to help you determine the cause.

I hope this helps.

Yes, you can have a few periods while being pregnant, but this will usually stop after a few months. This can also be a sign of a miscarriage starting, or something happening, or nothing. Always have it checked out by your doctor for the baby and your sake. I have never heard of anyone getting pregnant while pregnant though.

Yes, you can have your period while you are pregnant, but this is very dangerous and need to seek for help immediately. One of my nieces what having her period while her pregnancy and she never told about it. When the child was born she almost die, the child was born with lots of health problems and her brain did not developed properly because the child did not receive enough blood to develop her body system and organs. So if you are please don't wait until the last minute. My nieces child last only 5 years of life and never walk, talk or react.

About the other part of getting pregnant while pregnant, well, I really haven't see or herd that before. So maybe others can help you with that one.

I've never heard anyone having a period while pregnant. It was always my understanding that your period ceases for the duration of the pregnancy. However, if your pregnant and bleeding, don't assume it's a period. See a doctor. You could be having a miscarriage.

You don't get your period. All the blood goes to the baby. You can get pregnant again with twins very early in the first pregnancy. The twins could come from different fathers.
