The Christmas Angel

One particular Christmas season a long time ago, Santa was getting ready for his annual trip ... but there were problems everywhere. Four of his elves got sick, and the trainee elves did not produce the toys as fast as the regular ones so Santa was beginning to feel the pressure of being behind schedule.

Then Mrs. Claus told Santa that her mom was coming to visit. This stressed Santa even more. When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two had jumped the fence and were out, heaven knows where. More stress.

Then when he began to load the sleigh one of the boards cracked and the toy bag fell to the ground and scattered the toys.

So, frustrated, Santa went into the house for a cup of coffee and a shot of whiskey. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered that the elves had hid the liquor and there was nothing to drink.

In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the coffee pot and it broke into hundreds of little pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found that mice had eaten the straw it was made from.

Just then the doorbell rang and Santa cussed on his way to the door. He opened the door and there was a little angel with a great big Christmas tree. The angel said, very cheerfully, "Merry Christmas Santa. Isn't it just a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Isn't it just a lovely tree? Where would you like me to stick it?"

Thus began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree.

Ok, well...this is pretty bad. My working-class dad did his very best to give my sister and I great Christmases. He would work so hard, thinking we'd just love this or that or the other. However, being unappreciative brats, we never saw the trouble he went through and, comparing our gifts with other kids, would always complain about what we didn't get and all that jazz. We would also return stuff to try and get what we really wanted. Well, this really hurt my dad's feelings (not to mention, we weren't thinking about the true meaning of Christmas). One year, dad decided 'what's the point of even trying? We'd just complain or return his gifts anyways. So he took his dirty, old jogging shoes, stuffed some money in each, wrapped them, and put them under the tree. He figured we could get what we wanted and he wouldn't waste his time and hard work on trying to please the children he loved. My sister and I were upset to only see 1 present under the tree (brats), but more disappointed when we realized what we'd done over the years. I know this is a ridiculously long answer but it's a story, nonetheless.

1) A call from my cousin at 1 am on Christmas Eve, and I had to keep everyone else awake to talk to her.
2) I was in lodgings and I woke up on Christmas Day to discover my landlady's kids had painted my TV screen with Tippex while I slept. As a joke.
3) An electric shock when my dad's brand new tape recorder bust on Christmas Day, 2 hours after he unwrapped it, and I tried to fix it...with no electrical knowledge at all...
4) Gastro-enteritis....which lasted until New Year's Eve, ruining that party as well.
I stress that these are all different occasions. Yet I still love Christmas!

Hey Franco

Worst Christmas present i ever got was from my ex mother-in-law. I opened my present to find 3 pairs of men's underwear, you know not boxers but the old style with opening at the front and three pairs of long Johns XXL! Turned out she'd wrapped everything before writing what was what! So i had to wait until the brother-in-law opened his Christmas present (A silk nightie and a teddy bear) two days later before we could swap!

Best Christmas present? Came from my gran. I was 17 and couldn't believe the amount of presents under the tree and not one for me! Eventually as my cousins opened their presents my gran gave me mine ... It looked tiny and when i opened it i found a key and paperwork. My gran pointed outside just as my grandad stood there with my first motorbike ever! A 250 Suzuki! Wow that was the best ever!

When I was 3 all I got for Christmas was clothes. I was in a foster home and all the other kids were getting cool toys and I was getting socks and shirts and the like. I was crying and one of the women, the one who bought my presents was yelling at me because I didn't realize that I had no "decent" clothes and I really needed socks. Oh, and a dashboard Jesus statue, that was the only non-clothing gift I got.

My best friend had borrowed some money from her father who was a bit of a stinker. She had been unable to pay him back, when the family were all around the dinner table on xmas day he handed his presents out to everyone. Her brother and sister got great presents beautifully wrapped, when it was my friends turn to open her gift she had a golf ball with an IOU for the amount of money she had borrowed. What a shock that must have been!!

An empty plant pot.
For one Christmas my son got me(so he tells me) a beautiful potted plant but on his way home with it on Christmas eve he met some friends and they all ended up in the nearest pub where my son got well and truly drunk.
When it was closing time he staggered home losing the plant out of the pot on the way.
He was so drunk he put the empty pot under the tree for me to find the next morning.

My supervisor gave me a wall clock, not just any wall clock, but
A *Last Supper Wall Clock!* Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper, I'll have you know! It had a small clock in the upper left hand corner. It was huge! Probably about 24 x24.

She new I went to church and took my faith seriously. She probably thought this would be a nice gift!

I thought it was tacky. I showed it to my husband who just thought it was hilarious! He took it to work to "show it off."

A coworker asked him what he was going to do with the present, and he said we would probably give it to charity. She asked if she could take it home for her mother. Her mother loved it.

So, I got rid of a tacky gift, and made someone else very happy in the bargain.

When I was 16 and I went to Christmas at my first boyfriends house, his mom gave me a diet book titled "Fit or Fat?". She was a skinny elementary school teacher who smoked pot in her house with her boyfriend while her 17 and 12 year old sons were upstairs. I was at my skinniest - I had lost weight through Jenny Craig that year and weighed less than 20 pounds more than the 'ideal' weight for my height.

My ex b/f knew my favorite color is red, I simply love it. We were at my sister's house for Xmas day, and he was so excited about giving me the gift. It came in a large box, he wanted me to open it last. Finally I did. He got me a red leather coat. It was hideous!!! It had a waist belt and shoulder pads. Can you believe? I modeled it, pretended to like it, and put it in the closet permanently. I swear, it made me look like a pimp straight outta the 70s!!!

I CRINGED when I saw it. My sister felt sorry for me, lol!

He would ask me why I didn't wear it. I said it didn't fit 'cause I gained weight. This was true, but even if it did fit, I'd never wear it.

I moved in with my sister some years later. She and her ex hubby were separated. When they divorced, they sold the house and we moved out. I left the coat for the new owners.
