Can this be done? Do I just hold it & plant it next year? Do I need to freeze it? Do I cut the plant off? Do I just let it be?

my advice is not to cut it let it die naturally do not freeze it put it some where out of the way and it will bloom again next year when it is time you don't need to do anything more to it unless you put a little fertilizer on it

I have Lily-of-the-Valleys and the bulb stayed in the ground--I didn't know it and I about dug it out. I would think if it's a lily of any sort, I would leave it alone. Besides, that, if it DOES die, you can replace it(, and I would be terribly sorry for lying to you)---BUT, not only did my l-o-t- valleys come back, they had multiplied!!

I had three l-o-t-valleys in a planter and now I have 5, and I had three in the ground and now, I have 5. When the Fall leaves fell, I covered EVERYTHING with them, and most of them STILL have a mulch of leaves from LAST year around them.

Since it is so dry, when I DO water them, they hold the moisture a lot longer.

Of course, WATCH your watering in the Winter.
