I'm curious to know what are some peoples favorite riding disciplines? My personal favorite is western.

I love dressage as this is where the true skill of riding comes in - nothing like riding piaffe, passage or one time changes on a horse you have trained yourself. To chill out I think you can't beat going cross country on a horse - nothing like galloping at 30 + mph on half a ton of horse at fixed timber fences!

I started riding english as a child. I think it's teaches you balance better than western does. Now that I'm in my thirties and generally do trail rides, i enjoy western better. It's more relaxing and comfortable to me. I still find myself posting at the trot sometimes still but it helps keep my legs tone.

I ride both Western and English.
I do more training and arena work in my English saddle. And if I am jumping also.
But for going out and riding on trails I ride western.
Both are good but each has its place for me at least.

Bareback. It is fast to get your horse ready which is always nice for shorter rides. I love western because it is more laid back than english.

Hunters, or maybe Jumpers. My horse is a quarter horse, he looks bad on the flat, but once you put a jump in front of him, he's amazing. Right now I'm showing in hunters.
