I COMPLETELY AGREE!!! Someone who has that much moral values and is not afraid of what other people thinks...is amazing...my admiration and respect has only increased that much more after seeing him in the finals. And other than his obviously exceptional talents and skills...he definitely is an exceptional human being! I think most people would agree...GO ZIZOU!!!!!!!! =)

I highly doubt it. Most soccer fans, especially those who play soccer themselves, know that a headbutt like that is completely unacceptable. I don't care if what you were hearing from the guy was racist, focused on your religion, or your family; you simply do not headbutt somebody.

His name will be more well known, but I doubt he will gain any new fans. Had he gone out in penalty kicks, first time watchers of Zidane would have been amazing by this career ending World Cup. Instead, they will remember him as a man who was frequently scowling and left the finals on a red-card from a headbutt.

I liked him before, I like him after. I didn't change my opinion about him as a player, but as a man. Now I understand that for him moral integrity is the most important, since he sacrificed his last game to protect the honor of his family, Great man and a even greater football player!

Materazzi deserved it... but He still shouldn't have done it! A player of his calibre should have walked away. Even though I've got Italian blood pumping through my heart, my head tells me that the French fans deserved better!!!

The truth of the matter is more people get to know him now, because of what he did but that doesn't mean that his number of fans increase......
On my own opinion it will decrease beacause it has been said that 65 percent of his fans in France support him on what he did which means 35 % did not................

How on earth do you feel MORE respect for that loser?

He lost them the world cup by losing his cool. All time greats don't do that sort of thing, and that clown is unworthy of any honor.

are you people retarded????? yeah, he may have been insulted, but what happened to being a bigger man??? he disrespected his team and the entire game of football by not being able to control his anger. hes an idiot and everyone who supports him even more now are also idiots.
