Why is liberal such a bad thing?

Liberals believe in freedom of speech - don't you? It gives the moron above me to say that liberal are communists and not get arrested.

Liberals believe in freedom of religion - don't you? What happens if we have a religious policy like Afghanistan?

Liberals believe in public programs - don't you? It gives all children the opportunity for education. It gives you roads to drive on. It gives you courts to make decisions. It gives you police officers. Yes, it also gives assistance to all those who can't afford things and no it's not perfect, but a nation is only as strong as its weakest citizen. How can we be a leader in the world when we ignore homeless veterans? Who's going to want to fight for a country that promptly dumps the fighters?

Liberals are for the environment - why aren't you? They believe that our future generations should be able to breathe.

Liberals are for morals, aren't you? They have no problem when morals come from Religion, but they don't think that pandering to specific religious groups, or using religion to spread hate and mistrust, does good for anyone.

Sorry, but ultra-conservatism is going to destroy the western world. It's been tried and tried again and it's always overcome by what works. Hitler. Slavery. Inquisition. Segregation. Women's Suffrage. Afghanistan. Iraq.

Actually, it's the exact opposite.

The attitude that you take is the same attitude that was formulated by the founders of Islamic extremism and Neo-Conservativism.

Both came to America in the 1950's and thought that what they saw was vice and depravity (school dances! horrifying). They each began writing treatises that were against the concepts of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They each believed that democracies were the cause of such vices and believed that only an intelligencia should rule the people and people could be encouraged to vote against their own freedoms. They each believed that you could unite the people behind the concept by creating an external enemy (we're theirs, they're ours) and that war must be perpetual to maintain internal cohesion.

So, anti-liberalism is the cause of what's happening in Iraq and the rest of the Middle East today. Are western nations too liberal? They're not liberal enough.

Most Western countries are just the right amount of liberal, except for the U.S., which is too conservative now.

The important thing is to get the terminology right. Liberal is speak-ease for communists / socialists.

The people all want handout and freebees, and their governments have listened. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus, and his name is communism.

Yes, most of Europe and Asia are far too liberal and they want to infect America with socialism/communism too!
