I used to be scared to death of snakes. Then, one day a ball python came into my life....it took me two weeks to get up the courage to hold it by myself. Then, I started holding him everyday. I would carry him around my neck and he would just sit there as I cleaned the house, cooked dinner etc. He even got along with my dogs. I cried so hard when he died about 3 years later. About 5 months ago, I bought another one...she is great. I am teaching her to sit around my neck...I've taken her for rides in the car. Snakes can be fun...they will interact with you.

I think that the fact you have a snake as a pet is the best thing. Snakes are awesome.

They're quiet, unique, and if you keep their cages clean they're easy to take care of. They don't have to be fed every day, only have their water checked. They're perfectly happy curled around your hand (in in the larger breed cases your neck), they don't beg for food at the table, they don't roll in smelly things outside and then bring them inside to make the entire house stink. They tend to be happy just to hang out and be around you. And you get to hear people say, "Wow! You have a snake? Cool!" and they don't really say that about dogs, cats, guinea pigs, etc.

They are VERY easy to take care of!! Plus, everyone thinks it's cool that you have a snake. Personally, I can't figure out what the big deal is, but that's ok! LOL

Well, I have a female California kingsnake named Selana, and I love her because I feel like I can relate to her. We're both somewhat misunderstood, exotic, beautiful, loving... I had her since she was 2 weeks old and she can eat rattlesnakes! Her kind is the only type of snakes that are immune to a rattlesnakes venom! Cool, huh?

They are great. Had one for 6 years. A Boa. Low maintenance. Just a bowl of water, heat rock and feed them every month or so. They do shed and if they get loose they are bad to crawl into furniture and other dark places to hide. Mine loved to soak in the tub or just sun on the rocks. Everyone will either think you are too cool or just crazy!

Everything! They are beautiful animals (I have a rainbow boa, one of the most beautiful on the planet in my opinion-http://www.vpi.com/5VPIBreeders/BrazilianRainbowBoa/BrazilianRainbowBoa.htm ), fun to interact with, and fun to feed. They are amazing and efficient feeders, and are by far the most graceful animals on Earth.

When you take it out and it curls around your wrist like a bracelet. Watching Slither eat is fun too, but he just eats crickets, not mice.
