I had a friend who tried to do a similar show a few years ago. Your best bet would be to contact the clothing companies. It will depend on the event and what you are trying to raise money for.
The problem you run into with stores is that they don't own the brand names and have no say in how those brands can be used.

The clothing companies require the stores sell their products how they see fit and will not only set up a display but send people to see how their products are placed.

So getting back to the point, it's better to contact the company who makes the clothes. Most of them will require something in writing that explains the show and who benefits.

Another way to go is to contact local designers in your area or if you have a school near you that teaches fashion design. They will be more willing to help you because they are getting free publicity for their designs as where the major companies don't need you to help them. It works better when the help goes both ways

You should better ask your friends to donate some old clothes/out of fashion..You'll surely succeed that way;)

Ask fashion designers and local readymade garment stores.

if not some store, you could also contact some fashion designers... they would do it for charity purpose and publicity... the ones in making.
