There are so many opinions on that. What will work for colic and what to do and not to do for sids. With my daughter side worked and with my son stomach and sometimes back worked. You will need to try it and see what works best for you.

It also greatly increases the odds of crib death. Colic is genetic.
ALWAYS put a baby to sleep on its BACK with nothing in the crib other than a light covering. No pillows, no heavy blankets.
Remember the saying "BACK TO SLEEP"
Side is equally as bad because the baby can roll to the stomach.

What helps for colic is Mylicon drops.

The American Academy of pediatrics has determined that back sleeping for babies is safer. It reduces the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Babies with some conditions may be better off sleeping on their stomachs, but colic is not one of them.

hell no!! it doesn't reduce a thing, my son was colic and i think is still is at times, but they are that way, and there is nothing u can really do to stop it. sometimes if the baby has colic b/c of digestive reasons then it may help to lay them on their bellys, because the pressure help alleviate the pain

My kids didn't have colic. All 3 of them were stomach sleepers. Anyone who has a baby with colic and wants to try it, I'd say try it during daytime naps first.

I can reduce colic, that is correct, but let the baby sleep on her back, at all times. I lost my first born girl of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Check out some websites, and get info from other parents. .

doesn't matter. the risk of sids is too high. always put your baby to sleep on their back. ask your doctor for other ways to help reduce colic.

i absolutely agree that it does. i had 3 boys with colic and all 3 slept on their stomach. don't worry that it "might" increase chances of sids. Professionals don't know the real cause only what may cause it.

I've heard stomach sleeping is bad, but I've also heard it doesn't make a difference. Since no one's said side sleeping is bad, I'd play it safe and go with that, just to be sure. Why take the chance?
