Best in the world?

In your OPINION, and why, which Country has the best army in the world. Not largest or most powerful, but best.

Hi dan741226. The Brits are helping out other nations also. They are in one of the toughest areas of Afghanistan! And I did say best! Not most powerful. Man for man I think the Americans would struggle against British and Legion Etranger foces

For sure not the US. They like to join every conflict, but even with superior fire power, they don't win many.
Maybe the Israelis, they lasted a long time in this trouble spot, and I remember their operation in Entebbe, that was a real master strike. I also remember the US trying to rescue US residents in Iran. That try ended with US helicopters knocking out each other in a sand storm, not to impressive.

The Israeli military is really strong and I think they are also known for having a great intelligence abilities. I like how some of these other people say that America likes to itimidate other nations with our armed forces. When they get into trouble who is the first nation they expect to help. Think about it.

Without question it's the United States...period. Look at it this way, with all the fighting around the world going on right now who else is helping the other countries out. We have the best weapons/aircraft/naval anywhere.

oh The UK has by far the best army in the world, its the most effective, just look at the s.a.s for heavens sake. Then look at americas army and its track record and one can see for themselves. Never heard anybody say the french army is any good...

The country that doesn't have an army! War is so wrong and if a country was smart enough to realize that, they would persuade the others that war is wrong and then there would be no more armies or wars or anything.

French Foreign Legion. Very disciplined.
Dare I say Israeli's - always up for a fight . Convinced they are right. An army needs to be convinced they're right, or they'll lose.

I know the gurkhas werein the British army but werent they originally from nepal, apparently they were the fiercest and most efficient regiment for a long time.

I'd have to say Korea. Other armies, especially the US, are far more advanced and have massive bombs and stuff, but their troops aren't nearly as well trained, experienced, and certainly have nowhere near the skills in geurilla warfare.

Scotland's battalions are right up there. Iran's is maybe not the best but will never quit and fight odds hugely stacked against them

the USA...beyond the regular forces we have higher,special forces that most are unaware of..We are considered a world power due to our ability not the size or power of our forces..=)rock on..
