If there are children or other unresolved joint issues, definitely! Otherwise, it may be better...for both of your sakes...to let the relationship go. If you're still married, you must seek a legal dissolution (divorce) before you can really be free of your spouse. As long as you're legally married, the spouse may be held responsible for some of the actions (read: debt) made by the separated spouse!
