Hi i am part of a public message board .And we have a couple of people that like to cause trouble.Now we think possibly it could be the one person using different user names when it is not allowed anyone know of any sort of finding this out? like can you trace this back to a certain member if they are doing this or is it impossible?

The server operator or system administrator can track the IP address of the people who post messages. Even if the person uses different names, the IP address will be the same.

You can ask the webmaster or whoever runs the message board to track the IP addresses of those people. If the IPs match, they're the same person, if not then they're all different people.

Everything on a computer is trackable. Every last key stroke is stored in memory for life. Even if you delete or erase the hard drive, it never truely erases.
Every web site, everything you delete, everyTHING is trackable on the web....one way or another.
This is where the "idiots" come in....they actually think they are safe hiding at home acting like jerks, idiots, etc.

The message board service you are using probably has an option to do that. Why don't you check with them?

the person can have a static ip address so you wont always know that it's the same person. so you cant always know, they can also use a mates connection, use a internet cafe etc..
you want to hope they have a permanant connection with one ip so you can ban that particular ip

anything can be found for the right price...for instance a thong put on 4 years ago by Rosie O'Donnell...sure there is a lot of acreage to cover but it can be found for a price
