IMO: Hilton Honors. I get points towards free stays and airline miles at the same time.

They all have good rewards programs. Find a chain that you feel comfortable with and is within your budget and apply for their frequent guest program. Remember, no matter which you choose, you are going to spend a lot nights in that chain before you accumulate enough points to stay "free" (If you really think you are staying free, you better take Advertising 101 at a local college or university.)

Starwood is pretty good as it offers a choice of levels for hotels from 6 star (ST. Regis) down to 3/4 stars four points.
