where to site an air admittance valve ie habitable room ?

I assume you are talking about one for a soil pipe? cant remember exact measurements but it can be placed around waist hieght if you want ( check measurements )
or just run it to the ceiling or into the roof space and box it in.

It depends on the room layout and if non diffused airflow is an issue.

obviously high up and if you can somewhere in a corner that you can box it in
