America is still a pretty darn good place to live. I love America.
Also, we don't need the right to privacy, to bear arms or freedom of speech as principal things.
These are not put in the constitution because they are "right" like so many people seem to think.
These protections are in the constitution to protect the people from the government.
They are there to prevent the government from doing exactly what it is doing right now.
I do not represent my president. I do not represent congress. I do not represent the senate. All of these represent me. All of these work for us.
When JFK said. "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."
He was not referring to the government. The government is NOT our country. Me, you and that weird guy who plays guitar while drunk on his porch. They are our country. The citizens.
We do not serve our government, it serves us.
When ever the government starts preventing us from life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, it is our solemn, and single most important duty to change the government or to remove it and replace it with a new one.
"Whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends [life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness] it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government..."
Thomas Jefferson (The Declaration of Independence)
America is extremely close to fitting this description. They have even developed a nifty little way to try and stop the people from doing this.
They just invented the world terrorism

The conversion of our country is towards a Socialist/Communist/Totalitarian state with a touch of Theocracy thrown in.
We are continually bombarded with laws and actions by the highest level of government aimed at protecting us from ourselves for our own good as well as laws regulating our moral actions(witness the trend towards outlawing gay marriage)
There are also the actions being taken against personal freedoms by way of the Patriot Act's provisions regarding what materials we read at the library or check out, wiretaps of U.S. Citizens in the name of protecting our country from freedom, banks being required to report any "unusual" transaction amount(again in the name of fighting terrorism or the drug trade)
We also have any number of alphabet organizations that have law enforcement powers. IRS, BATF, FBI, CIA, NSA, NSC, BLM, and several others. Each of these are known to violate the rights of the citizens of the united states at will.
The most frightening of governemental organizations however was organized after 9/11. That organization of course is The Dept. of Homeland Security. The very name invokes images of Communist/Fascist regimes who always speak of the good of the homeland.
Over the course of the years people have become accustomed to being stopped at checkpoints(supposedly to prevent drunk driving) and asked for their paperwork(Your Papers Please).
The 4th amendment which guarantees the freedom against unreasonable searches and seizures has been continually eroded by court rulings in the last 20 years. You no longer even have the right to refuse to allow a drug dog to sniff your car. It's not an inconvienence or violation of your rights according to the courts.

America is completely out of control. It's citizens have no respect for eachother and the US as a country has no respect for the rest of the world. The sooner the idiots who blindly support every action that power-mongering president makes, the better off we're all going to be.

Yes, because we are developing fascist citizens who vote for fascist politicians. What do you call someone who lives on government handouts? A Democrat. There's a horde of people whose livelihood is dependent on the State. Having no self-respect, no self-esteem, and no self-worth, they are compelled to vote for the very worst politician they can find. We *must* end subsidies; it's the only chance to save the Republic.

Just like Nazi Germany, US invades other countries on a whim!
What will happen when other countries start attacking too? Let's say Russia doesn't like the Indian prsident and bombs the hell out of India, just like US did with Iraq...
Or France doesn't like Congo and bombs them overnight?

What do you mean "slowly"? U.S. is on the way to becoming a Taliban type Bible Nazi Christian state. South Dakota should have it's star on the American flag replaced by a coat hanger.
