It is not updating it kepps doing this all the time it started two days ago

The sound is the windows exclamation sound any body help?

It is not related to any answers yet given, I am not a new commer to comps so have checked all likely causes. The only diff now than before is i am now with talktalk as isp

Right click the volume control icon to the right of the task bar, select Adjust Auto Properties to bring up the dialogue box.
Click the Sounds tab and see what events trigger a sound.

Some security programs will alert you if they've found malware, its unlikely that malware would want to alert you to its presence by beeping.

It may be updating. Check your settings in the control panel to see if automatic updates are turned on.

If you have MSN it might be people signing in and out.
