The flag was just a little aluminum tube shaped like an upside down L with the actual flag attatched on it. Probably no more than four foot tall.
They just knocked it in with a mallet, like it was a big tent post..
There is gravity on the moon, the earth is not the only thing in the universe that has gravity, everything that has mass has some gravitational pull to it, there just needs to be a lot of mass for the pull to be substantial.

The Moon has gravity. Not as much as on Earth, but it's there. And the American flag is hoisted there. They used wires or something to make it stick out and look like it's waving.

As mentioned Yamuna, if the pole is driven into the moons surface it will remain in that position. The only way for it to move is if there is a force moving it in some other direction. The moon's weak gravitational force (any body that has mass will exert a "gravitational" force proportional to it's mass) will only pull the flag towards it's center (not push).

It is on a pole and has some sort of frame to hold it up and out. The moon does have some gravity just nothing like earth's gravitational pull.

The rod to hold the flag out horizontally would not extend fully, so the flag ended up with a slight waviness, giving the appearance of being windblown. The flag itself was difficult to erect, it was very hard to penetrate beyond about 6 to 8 inches into the lunar soil with the flagstaff.

The flag was placed there by the Appolo astronauts. There is gravity on the moon otherwise they could not walk on the moon or it would not rotate around the earth and many other things.
