yes they should be banned. i read a story bout this 16 year old gir who killed herself. she went on these sites and posted messages saying she wanted to kill herself and people wrote back telling her different ways how to do it. even wishing her luck. these people should of been talking her out of it not telling her to do it. like its a good thing. . her parents said that if it wasnt for these sites then she might of still be alive. i agree. i could not believe what i was reading.

Kids were killing themselves long before the internet was available.

Perhaps they should try and follow the example by making 'samaritan' type sites easily available on the internet too.

Perhaps we also need to stop burying our heads in the sand, blaming the websites the kids visit, and actually do something about the causes - bullying etc.

I understand your sentiment, but I am having difficult understanding how forcing these groups to go underground will help the situation. Maybe we need to concentrate efforts on truly understanding why people want to commit suicide (or become anorexic, etc.) than trying to prevent them from finding support for the only solution that seems to be feasible for them.

I saw a documentary on suicide sites a few years ago and found it disturbing but not totally shocking, there are sites that promote violence, terrorism, child pornography, beastiality - you name it, it's out there.

I think most people believe the internet should be policed and sites like these shut down but it's not that easy

I believe that they shpould be banned. This world on its own has too many means of killing you each day that there is no need to even help people more in this task!
