You could probably get custodial rights if the mother abandened her. You would have to go to court and petition her for custody. If you have any contact with your daughter, ask her to bring the child to you. It happens more than you would think. I've got several children in my school that the same thing happened to and the grandparents have sole custoday now. Be sure that when you do go to court, that she's not allowed to take them without supervision. I'm sorry, I know that this is hurting you.

Is the child really abandoned? Are they true strangers? If the mother has decided to leave her child with friends and go on a vacation without telling everyone else, it's not abandonment, so you have to be careful that she has truly abandoned her. Have you talked to these strangers? Why are they keeping the girl? If you know that she has been abandoned then you will have to contact the law. The child will be placed in protective custody and later probably released to you...of they see that you are fit and the closest blood relative.

Go to the courts. As a grandparent you may not have "special" rights, but you do have rights as being a blood relative. Are these peolple strangers to you, or strangers period? Yes, just go directly to the courts, or a lawyer, asap

Absolutly, phone the police and have them escort you to your granddaughter...then go to court and get custody.
